JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 18, 2007) - The ETSU club soccer team defeated Hiawasse 2-0 at the Summers-Taylor Soccer Complex on Tuesday.

A tremendous cross from Buc freshman Aliyu Sugri (LaVergne, Tenn.), in the first half caused a Hiawasse defender to send the ball into the back of his own goal early in the first half to give the Bucs a 1-0 lead. The Bucs would not look back as they would score a second goal early in the second half. Jorge Diaz (Johnson City, Tenn.), knocked the cross from Nathan Burns (Knoxville, Tenn.), past the outstretched hands of the Hiawasse keeper to make the score 2-0.

The Bucs out shot Hiawasse in the game 19-6, with 11 of those shots coming in the second half. Freshman keeper Jonathan Weaver (Johnson City, Tenn.), had 4 saves in the win for the Bucs.

The Bucs, 2-0, have two games on Saturday against Appalachian State at 9:30 a.m. and Furman at 2:30 p.m. at the Summers-Taylor Soccer Complex.
