JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 6, 2009) - The ETSU men's soccer is set to host No.6 Lipscomb on Saturday at 2 p.m. in an Atlantic Sun first round match at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
"Saturday's game is a great opportunity for our team," said head coach Scott Calabrese. "I think being the third seed and having the opportunity to host is a big advantage. Lipscomb had to travel up last weekend and they had to do it again, and that can take a toll on you. It is also very important that we approach the game with the right mind set, and that we aren't complacent because we had success against them last time."
The winner of the match will move on to face Stetson next Saturday in the A-Sun semifinals in Buies Creek, N.C.
The Bucs (5-8-3, 4-4-1 A-Sun) have won four of their last six matches against Florida Gulf Coast, North Florida, Lipscomb and Belmont. ETSU defeated the Bisons 3-0 at home a week ago. The Buccaneers feature Sean Hoek (Newburgh, Ind.) and Scott Rosman (Kenner, La.), as they had six players named All-Conference.
Hoek, a second team selection, leads the team with five goals and 11 points, while Rosman, a first team selection, leads the A-Sun with a 1.17 goals against average.
The Bisons (6-9-3, 3-4-2 A-Sun) have won three of their last four including wins against Belmont, Jacksonville and USC Upstate. Lipscomb features All-Conference selections Miguel DaSilva and Kezi Lara.
"Our guys need to come with the same determination and preparation that they brought into the first game if we want to get a favorable result," Calabrese said. "Lipscomb is a good team, and they have a number of weapons in Miguel DaSilva and Garret Pettis and a few others who can hurt you. For us it is going to be important to have a good home crowd behind us, helping to lift us and support us to a win."
Ticket prices for the match are $2 for non-ETSU students and senior citizens and $5 for general admission. ETSU students and children 12 and under get in free.
