Thursday, September 03, 2009

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 3, 2009) - The ETSU men's soccer team is set to host VMI in a non-conference match Friday at 5 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Stadium.

The Bucs (0-0-1) drew a 2-2 tie against Wofford earlier in the week, and will look to pick up their first win of the season against the Keydets. Conrad McCue (Round Rock, Texas) and Sean Hoek (Newburgh, Ind.) both scored goals for the Bucs in the comeback. ETSU is 1-0 all-time against VMI having defeated the Keydets 2-1 last season in Lexington, Va. after falling behind 1-0 early in the match.

VMI (0-1-0) comes into the match having dropped its season opener at home to Mount St. Marys by a score of 4-0. The Keydets feature Second Team All-Conference goalie Brian Sowell as he enters his junior season as VMI's all-time leader in save percentage. Offensively, the Keydets are paced by midfielder Brian Harding and a cast of forwards, including juniors John Sisco and Zach Morgan, while the defense is led by Sonny Landry, Brandon Gary and Will Quarles.

This weekend is Family Fun Weekend at Summers-Taylor Stadium as fans can purchase Buy one, Get one FREE general admission tickets to both the men's and women's soccer home matches this weekend.
