Men's soccer defeats King in an exhibition match, 1-0
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 18, 2009) - A Sam Bryan (Caldy, England) goal in the 85th minute gave the ETSU men's soccer team a 1-0 win against King College in an exhibition match on a rainy Tuesday night in Bristol, Tenn. "We played really well, and this was a good first test for our players," said head coach Scott Calabrese. "The fact that King had a good crowd at the game, because of freshmen orientation dinner made it an exciting atmosphere for us to play in." Freshman Alesi Osorio ( The Bucs had several opportunities in the first half including a brilliant shot by Sean Hoek ( "We got quality play from both our keepers in the match," Calabrese said. "Playing a competitive match early in the season is great for out growth, and a good eye opener for our freshmen to see what college soccer is all about."
