Scored five points to break Schoenfeld’s career record

MACON, Ga. (Oct. 8, 2012) – The Atlantic Sun Conference named David Geno (Kingsport, Tenn.) its Men’s Soccer Player of the Week on Monday, following the junior’s five-point, record-setting weekend.

Geno scored two goals and registered one assist through ETSU’s 2-0 week, bumping his career points total to 52 and passing Aaron Schoenfeld’s school record of 50. The junior striker scored the first of four ETSU goals in the shutout of North Florida, while assisting Colin Pugh (Dublin, Ireland) on the game’s third goal. He then tied Schoenfeld’s mark for career goals on Sunday, scoring the 20th of his career in the, 2-1, win over Jacksonville.

Geno owns ETSU’s career records in points and assists (12), while tying Schoenfeld’s 20 goals. The Dobyns-Bennett product is also the school’s single-season record holder in goals (9) and points (21), achieving both of those marks in 2011, while tying for the assists record with five in 2010. He is just two goals, two assists and two points away from breaking the single-season marks in each category with eight goals, four assists and 20 points so far this year.

The first opportunity to do so will come on Tuesday, when Geno and the Bucs look to extend their winning streak against NSCAA Top 25 opponents to six games, welcoming  No. 15 Wake Forest to Summers-Taylor Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Geno Notes
