Bucs set to take on FGCU and Stetson at Summers-Taylor Stadium

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 10, 2013) – The ETSU men’s soccer team will look to extend its three-match unbeaten streak when it hosts Florida Gulf Coast Friday, Oct. 11, and Stetson Sunday, Oct. 13. ETSU and FGCU will enter Friday’s match tied for first place in the Atlantic Sun standings.


  • The Buccaneers (4-3-3, 2-0-0) were tabbed at No. 39 in the most recent NCAA RPI rankings, the lone A-Sun team to crack the Top 50.
  • ETSU’s shutout percentage of 0.70 is tied for third-best in the nation alongside Clemson, with Army and Georgetown the only two teams boasting a better mark.
  • Earning seven shutouts, the Bucs’ defense has been stellar this season, ranking in the nation’s Top 40 for goals against average (0.74) and save percentage (0.814).


  • ETSU capped off an unbeaten weekend of conference play with a 2-0 win at Mercer, outshooting Mercer, 15-4.
  • The Buccaneers recorded their league-leading seventh shutout of the season, helping senior Ryan Coulter (Dublin, Ireland) move to second place in A-Sun history for career shutouts (22).
  • Sophomore Emmanuel Wilson (Memphis, Tenn.) and senior David Geno (Kingsport, Tenn.) were the goal scorers for the Bucs, each tallying one goal in the win.

FLORIDA GULF COAST – Friday, Oct. 11 @ 7pm – LIVE STATS

  • The Eagles (4-5-1, 2-0-0) will enter Friday’s match riding a four-game win streak, including a pair of conference wins last weekend over Lipscomb and Northern Kentucky.
  • FGCU’s conference-leading scoring offense of 1.60 goals per game ranks 60th in the nation.
  • The Eagles are paced by Felipe De Sousa whose five goals are tied for most in the Atlantic Sun.
  • Henry Penagos has netted four goals on the season.
  • ETSU is 2-4-0 all-time versus FGCU.

STETSON – Sunday, Oct. 13 @ 1pm – LIVE STATSVIDEO

  • The Hatters (1-7-2, 0-2-0) are in the midst of a winless drought extending to Aug. 30.
  • Stetson is paced by Chase Rodgers (two goals) and Raffaele Centofanti (one goal, two assists).
  • ETSU is 2-4-2 all-time versus Stetson, however the Bucs have not lost to Stetson since Oct. 8, 2010.
