MACON, Ga. (Nov. 11, 2013) – Continuing ETSU Soccer’s tradition of success both on the field and in the classroom, senior goalkeeper Ryan Coulter (Dublin, Ireland) and sophomore defender Kristoffer Ibsen (Aalborg, Denmark) have been named to the Academic All-Atlantic Sun Conference Team.
Coulter, a co-captain for the Buccaneers, recorded a conference-best nine shutouts during the regular season, becoming the Atlantic Sun’s all-time leader for shutouts with 24 career clean sheets.
An Interdisciplinary Studies major, Coulter maintained a program-best 0.82 goals against average through 17 games this year, making 54 saves.
Ibsen, who earned a spot on the A-Sun All-Freshman First Team last season, emerged as a versatile two-way defender for ETSU in his sophomore campaign.
In 16 appearances for the Buccaneers, Ibsen scored two goals while helping anchor an ETSU defense that set program records for goals against average (0.82) and shutout percentage (0.53).
A Political Science major, Ibsen made 14 starts en route to helping ETSU to a second-place finish in the league standings.
As a team, the Buccaneers have earned the NSCAA Collegiate Team Academic Award the past two seasons.
ETSU will be back in action Friday, Nov. 15 at 4:00 p.m. in the 2013 Atlantic Sun Men’s Soccer Championship Semifinals. The Bucs will play the winner of Wednesday’s No. 3 Lipscomb vs. No. 6 Jacksonville match.
