Senior midfielder earns national academic honor

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Dec. 18, 2013) – Adding to an impressive list of career accolades, senior midfielder Itode Fubara (Ogbema, Nigeria) has earned a spot on the 2013 NSCAA Senior College Men’s Scholar All-America Team.

While helping lead ETSU to its second NCAA Tournament appearance in four years, Fubara was able to maintain success in the classroom, placing him on the Scholar All-America Team and among some of the best college soccer players in the country.

Fubara and his fellow honorees will be formally recognized at the annual NSCAA All-America Luncheon January 18 in Philadelphia. The luncheon will be held in conjunction with the 67th annual NSCAA Convention, which is expected to draw more than 10,000 coaches, administrators, and soccer business professional from across the globe.

Capping off his collegiate career by helping ETSU to an Atlantic Sun Championship, Fubara finished among the Top 5 in program history for career goals (8), assists (13), and minutes played (6,525), and joined David Geno in becoming the first ETSU players to be named to the Atlantic Sun All-First Team three times.

The 2010 Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year, Fubara became the first ever ETSU student-athlete to be named a finalist for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award.
