JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Oct. 4, 2013) – The ETSU men’s soccer team recorded its conference-best sixth shutout of the season Friday night, picking up a 1-0 road win at North Florida in the team's conference opener.

An 84th-minute goal by Kristoffer Ibsen (Aalborg, Denmark) gave the Bucs (3-3-3) the win.

Entering the match, ETSU and North Florida were the lone two Atlantic Sun teams ranked in the RPI Top 100.

“Securing three points on the road to an excellent UNF team is a great start to our conference season,” head coach Scott Calabrese said. “We had to endure a period during the first half where UNF carried the play, but in the second half, we created some excellent chances, defended very well, and worked very hard to secure the points.”

With the shutout, senior goalkeeper Ryan Coulter (Dublin, Ireland) moved into a tie for second place in Atlantic Sun history for most career shutouts. The reigning Atlantic Sun Goalkeeper of the Year has recorded a conference-best six shutouts on the year, and 21 over the course of his career.

"We must now turn our full attention to Mercer," Calabrese said.
