JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 28, 2015) – On Monday, ETSU men’s soccer has been ranked 42nd by the NCAA in the rating percentage index (RPI) for Division I soccer. This is the second highest ranking for the team since the start of the program in 2008.
The Bucs have received this ranking due to their six non-conference games to start the season. The biggest game that helped earn this ranking was the road game ETSU played at Clemson. The Tigers are currently ranked third in this same RPI with a record of 6-1-2. Clemson has lost to highly ranked Notre Dame and tied with Wake Forest and Coastal Carolina, who are both ranked in the top 10 in RPI.
The last time the Bucs were ranked this high was in 2010 when the team earned a ranking of 38th. The Bucs also finished that season 15-6 while winning the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.
ETSU will start conference play Tuesday as they travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on Wofford College at 7 p.m. This will be the first conference game of the season for both teams.
