JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 19, 2016) – Dr. Richard Sander and the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday men’s soccer head coach Bo Oshoniyi received a three-year contract extension that will run through the 2018-19 season.
“We are really impressed of what coach Oshoniyi has done over the last couple of years. I think this season really demonstrated his leadership skills by overcoming adversity,” said Sander. “He wants to be here, and we want him to be here. With his leadership, the program is going to continue to grow and prosper.”
Oshoniyi started his head coaching career with the Bucs in 2014 after being an assistant for Penn State for three seasons. In his first season at ETSU, he led the team to a 7-10-1 record with crucial victories over VCU, South Carolina, and Florida International.
For his second season as head coach, Oshoniyi went 8-7-4 overall and 5-2-1 in the SoCon. The Bucs defeated tough teams such as: nationally ranked Kentucky, Furman, and top-seeded UNCG in the SoCon Tournament. ETSU played in the SoCon championship game against the Paladins but ultimately fell 1-0.
“I am honored and thankful that Dr. Sander and president Noland have entrusted me with the opportunity to represent this great university as their soccer coach,” said Oshoniyi. “I am excited to continue to build this program both on and off the field.”
