JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 19, 2016) – After his performance against top-ranked North Carolina on Tuesday and UNC Asheville on Sunday, ETSU junior defender Chase Clack (Memphis, Tenn.) was placed on the College Soccer News Team of the Week, which was announced on Monday.
Clack was an integral part in the 1-0 upset over then undefeated UNC as he contributed to the team’s second shutout of the season. He also scored the lone goal in the 1-0 victory over the Bulldogs on Sunday off a set piece for his first collegiate goal and the first goal by a Buccaneer defender this season.
A member of the 2015 SoCon Fall Academic All-Conference Team, Clack has started all six games this season and hasn’t missed a start dating back to the beginning of the 2015 season. This season he has averaged 92 minutes on the pitch and has taken three shots with two on goal. He has also contributed to three shutouts in the previous four matches this year.
“This is a huge honor for the team and myself to be recognized on a national level,” said Clack. “This award is a testament to how well our team is playing defensively and the positive direction we are moving as the season progresses. I am very thankful to be honored, and hopefully, we can build off the momentum throughout the rest of the season.”
The ETSU men’s soccer team will conclude its non-conference schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at No. 20 Kentucky. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
