JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 1, 2016) – Redshirt senior Joao Ramalho (Monte Santo, Brazil) claimed three honors this week as the forward recorded the game-tying and game-winning against Mercer to record ETSU’s first-ever regular season championship in Macon, Ga.

Ramalho was recognized as a member of the Team of the Week per College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.com, and he claimed SoCon Player of the Week for his third time in his career. It was also the second time in Ramalho’s career to be a member of the College Soccer News Team of the Week.

The Brazil native finished the regular season recording two of the Buccaneers’ biggest goals of the season as he knotted the game 2-2 in the 77th minute and drilled the game-winner with two minutes remaining in regulation at Mercer. It was Ramalho’s third multi-goal game of his career. The last time he netted a pair of goals was against William & Mary and VCU to start the 2014 season.

This season he has accumulated 13 points (4 goals and 5 assists) while tallying three goals and three assists in the previous five matches for the Blue and Gold. Currently, Ramalho has 19 career goals and 51 career points as a Buccaneer.

ETSU has had a player win SoCon Player of the Week every other week this week with Jonny Sutherland (Chester, U.K) claiming two along with Cameron Woodfin (Old Hickory, Tenn.) and Fletcher Ekern (Knoxville, Tenn.) each receiving one this season.

The Bucs will take the next week off as they prepare for the SoCon Men’s Soccer Tournament that is being held at UNCG in Greensboro, N.C. ETSU will play the winner of the No. 4 UNCG/No. 5 Furman match that is being played on Saturday, Nov. 5 in Greensboro. The semifinal match with the Bucs and the winner of the quarterfinal game will take place on Thursday, Nov. 10 with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m.
