NEW YORK, N.Y. (Dec. 28, 2017) – For the second straight year, ETSU men’s soccer head coach Bo Oshoniyi will lead one of four Major League Soccer combine teams in Orlando, Fla. Jan. 11-13, MLS announced last week.
In the showcase, Oshoniyi will coach a 15-player team from a pool of 60 draft-eligible seniors from NCAA D1 institutions. The other three coaches are John Trask (Wisconsin), Kris Kelderman (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) and Todd Yeagley (Indiana).
“It’s always great being able to coach the future of MLS,” Oshoniyi said. “I’m honored to be asked to help with the combine, and I’m looking forward to try and help these players get drafted to the MLS.”
Representatives from all 23 MLS teams will be on hand to scout potential talent in preparation for the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, which begins Jan. 19.
Oshoniyi’s résumé includes back-to-back SoCon Coach of the Year honors in 2017 and 2018 in seasons where his ETSU squads won regular season conference championships. Oshoniyi led this year’s team to a 9-2-7 record which included an undefeated 6-0-4 mark in conference play – the first time ETSU men’s soccer has finished conference play without a loss.
Oshoniyi also has ties to the MLS, serving nearly a decade as a goalkeeper, including a stint with the Kansas City Wizards from 2000-2006.
