COLUMBIA, S.C. (October 19, 2003) - The East Tennessee State men's tennis team wrapped up the third day of play at the USC Fall Invitational held in Columbia, S.C. with four players in semifinals competition.
Freshman Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) won the singles A bracket for the Bucs. First Posada defeated second seed Andrew Hamar 6-2, 6-4 to advance to finals. He then beat the number one seed, Clayton Almeida of Winthrop 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.
In the A/B bracket, Moises Serrano (Bucaramanga, Columbia) fell to Winthrop's Gary Kilduff 6-2, 6-4, while Fernando Fiuri (Villa Maria, Argentina) won his first match against N.C. State's Matt Simeon 6-1, 6-1 to face Kilduff in the finals match. Fiuri fell to Kilduff 6-7 (3); 7-6 (3); 2-1 Ret (inj.).
Frederico Ochoa (Manizales, Columbia) competed in the B-1 bracket and was eliminated in the semifinals round by Fernando Uehara 6-0, 6-3.
