ATHENS, Ga. (Sept. 20, 2003) - East Tennessee State men's tennis team continued their struggle in the second day of the 2003 Southern Intercollegiate Championships hosted by the University of Georgia.
In doubles action, Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) and Alejandro Salazar (Arequipa, Peru) were given a bye in the first round only to be defeated in the second round by the No. 2 seed pairing of Bo Hodge and John Isner from Georgia, 9-7.
ETSU's Diego Iglesias (Mar del Plata, Argentina) and Moises Serrano (Bucaramanga, Columbia) were eliminated in the first round by the sixth seeded pair of Max Fomine and Matt Armstrong from Mississippi State.
In the second round of the singles consolation tournament, Posada defeated UNC Charlotte's Arturo Aguirre, 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10), while Iglesias fell to Vanderbilt's Lewis Smith, 6-2, 6-3.
Posada moves on to face William and Mary's Sean Kelleher tomorrow in the third day of tournament action.
