Men's tennis has tough second day at Southern Classic

ATHENS, Ga. (September 24, 2005)  -  The ETSU men's tennis team continued play at the Southern Classic Tournament hosted by the University of Georgia on Saturday, advancing in several brackets.

In singles action, Juan Crosa (Asuncion, Paraguay) lost to Alex Schweizer of Auburn, 6-1, 7-6, and Felix insaurralde (Asuncion, Paraguay) lost to Strahinja Bobusic of UGA, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Also in singles, Sebastian Serrano (Cartegena,
Columbia) lost to Florent Giord of Miss. State, 6-2, 6-4, and Lisandro Picardo (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) lost to Zach Rath of Georgia Tech, 6-4, 6-4.  Enrique Oliveras (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) defeated Robert Ladyman of Furman, 6-2, 6-1, before falling in the next round to Nathan Sachs of Vanderbilt, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6.

Daniel Escobedo (
Zocatecas, Mexico) defeated Peter Dzuba of Stetson, 6-0, 6-1, and in the next round he also defeated Mauricio Paiz of FAU, 6-7, 7-6, 6-0 to advance.  Matt Stanley (Kingsport, Tenn) lost to Warren Woolfork of Mercer, 6-7, 6-0, 7-6.
