TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 4, 2010) -ETSU senior Grega Teraz (Mojstrana, Slovenia) earned an impressive qualifying-round victory in singles play Monday at the ITA All-American Championships, one of three national championship events on the college tennis calendar.
Teraz opened up the match strong as he took the first set over Jean Anderson of Texas, 6-4. Then Andersen rallied in the second set 6-3, to even the match back up. However, Teraz outlasted Andersen in the final frame 6-4, to win the match.
Teraz will take on John Collins of Maryland tomorrow in second round action. Collins also won a tough three-set match on Monday.
Charles Bottoni (Bois Guillaume, France) fell in opening round play this afternoon to Tsvetan Mihov of Oklahoma 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-3. Bottoni will participate in the consolation round tomorrow.
Sander Gille (Kuringen, Belgium) also dropped his first round match as he fell to Jon Wolff of Wake Forest 6-3, 6-4. Gille will also move to consolation play.
Gille will team with Jesus Bandres (Caracas, Venezuela) for doubles play beginning tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. The duo will take on Niall Angus and Alexey Grigorov of Texas A&M in opening round action.
