(May 27, 2016) – A day after winning the program’s first ever match in the NCAA Doubles Championship, ETSU men’s tennis players David Biosca (Sant Fruitos De Bage, Spain) and Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) made some more history Friday defeating the nation’s top-ranked doubles team from Florida, Diego Hidalgo and Gordon Watson, by scores of 6-4 and 7-5 to advance to the tournament’s quarterfinal round. With the win, Biosca and Ribeiro achieve All-American honors. They are just the third and fourth players in program history to achieve the feat joining current Head Coach Yaser Zaatini (1991, 1992, 1993) and former Buc Enrique Oliveras (2008).

(May 25, 2016) – ETSU men’s tennis player David Biosca (Sant Fruitos De Bage, Spain) gave the nation’s top-ranked player, Mikael Torpergaard from Ohio State, all he could handle in the opening round of the NCAA Singles Championship Wednesday evening in Tulsa, Okla. Biosca pushed Torpergaard to three sets but ultimately fell, 6-3, 6-7 (3) and 7-5. Biosca finishes his junior season with a record of 17-5, while Torpergaard improves to 30-4 with the victory.

Biosca and Ribeiro prep for their first round NCAA Tournament matchups

(May 24, 2016) – ETSU men’s tennis players David Biosca (Sant Fruitos De Bage, Spain) and Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) will participate in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship beginning Wednesday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. Biosca will compete in the singles tournament, while the duo of Biosca and Ribeiro will take part in the doubles bracket. It is the first time in program history that the Bucs have had the team, a singles player and a doubles team make the NCAA Tournament.

Former Buc Sander Gille is making waves in the pro ranks

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 19, 2016) – Former ETSU men’s tennis player Sander Gille has been making waves in the professional ranks as of late. Gille, who graduated from ETSU in 2012, recently picked up a singles victory over the 99th-ranked player in the world, Thiemo de Bakker, for his first career win over a player ranked in the top 200 in the world. Gille defeated Bakker, who was ranked as high as No. 44 in 2010, 6-7 (1), 6-4, 7-6 (4).
