Men's Tennis To Battle Furman

Tuesday, April 10, 2001

Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State men’s tennis team will battle Furman in a key Southern Conference match tomorrow afternoon.

East Tennessee State, who has returned after playing 13 of the last 14 matches on the road, enter the match with a 6-1 conference record while Furman comes in with an unblemished 6-0 mark. The Buc's Gustavo Gomez looks to continue his 21-match winning streak. In that stretch, Gomez has provided a stellar 7-0 conference record. His last loss came on Feb. 23. Juan Yannuzzi has also been reliable at the No.3 singles spot. Yannuzzi has won 16 of his past 17 matches and currently has a perfect 7-0 conference record. Yannuzzi's only loss in that period was to Wake Forest's Trent Brendon in a three-set affair.

The match will get underway at 2 p.m. from the ETSU Tennis Center. Admission is free of charge.
