East Tennessee State Men's Tennis Defeats Penn 5-1
Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State men's tennis team continued its winning ways by defeating Ivy League opponent Penn, 5-1, in tennis action on Tuesday morning in Orlando, Fla. The Bucs second match of the day, against Central Florida, was cancelled because of inclement weather.
The Bucs Gustavo Gomez continued his spring dominance by defeating Frantisek Stejskal 6-3,6-1 at No.1 singles. Marcos Pavlovich dropped the only match of the morning at No. 2 singles to Ryan Howard after he was forced to retire due to an ankle injury with the score at 4-5 in the first set. At No. 3 singles, Pablo Sahagun defeated Eric Sobotka 6-3,6-4.
Juan Yannuzzi also posted a win by defeating Brian Barki at No. 4 singles by a score of 6-3,6-3. No. 5 singles saw Roberto Fernandez defeat Robert Pringle 6-4,6-4. The final singles match saw Antonio Bugge beat Kevin Strause 6-1,6-4.
With the win, the Bucs improve to 5-4 on the year, and currently ride a five-match winning streak. The Bucs continue their swing around the Sunshine State tomorrow with a 2 p.m. match in Boca Raton, against Florida Atlantic University.
