ETSU Tennis Out of ITA Region II Championships

Chapel Hill, N.C. -- The East Tennessee State men's tennis team continued play at the Omni Hotels ITA Region II Championships at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C. on Friday. In the Main Draw doubles, Roberto Fernandez and Pablo Sahagun defeated Jacob Nordwall and Joakim Peterson from Charlotte 8-6 to advance to the round of 16 on Thursday. The number six seed, Virginia Commonwealth's Florian Marquardt and Pedro Nieto, defeated Fernandez and Sahagun 8-3 to continute in the tournament. Sahagun was the lone ETSU representative in the Main Draw singles tournament. His first opponent was Mike Duquette from the University of Virginia. Sahagun wins the match 6-2, 6-0. In the round of 32, Sahagun was defeated by the number three seed, Marcio Petrone from the University of North Carolina. The ITA Region II Championships continue through Sunday, October 28 at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C. MAIN DRAW DOUBLES Round of 32: Roberto Fernandez/Pablo Sahagun def.
