JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 5, 2004) - The NCAA announced today that the No. 67 East Tennessee State men's tennis team will travel to Lexington, Ky. to face No. 16 Texas Christian University in the first round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament on May 15 at 2:00 p.m. Live scoring will be available at www.ukathletics.com. "The team was excited to see the draw today and we believe that our chances are good. We knew that any match that we would get would be tough because we won't be familiar with the teams, still we are excited and ready to play," commented head coach Yaser Zaatini. "After seeing the guys faces, I have a positive feeling about the upcoming match because I know that we are entering as a team that believes in themselves, which is extremely important to make it to the next round." ETSU (20-5) earned one of 30 automatic bids to the NCAA tournament by winning the Southern Conference Men's Tournament on April 25, while the TCU Horned Frogs (16-6) earned one of the tournament's 64 at-large bids after missing an automatic selection in the Conference USA Championship in a loss to No. 19 Tulane University in a 4-1 decision. This is the first appearance for the Bucs in the NCAA since 2002 and their third appearance overall in the NCAAs, while it will be the sixth consecutive Regional Tournament appearance for the Frogs and their 19th overall NCAA appearance.
