SPARTANBURG, SC (April, 13, 2004) - The Southern Conference announced today that East Tennessee State's Oscar Posada as the Men's Tennis Player of the Week for April 13. Posada, a freshman from Valencia, Venezuela, won three matches last week to help the Bucs maintain their unblemished 8-0 record in the Southern Conference this season. On Thursday, Posada outlasted Furman's Patrick Fillnow, 7-6, 6-3. His victory propelled the Bucs past the Paladins, 5-2. Posada continued his undefeated week by downing Chattanooga's John Hangstefer 6-1, 6-4 on Saturday. The freshman closed out the week by edging Davidson senior Rob Haywood, 6-4, 6-3. ETSU, thanks in part to Posada's rookie campaign, is currently ranked 69th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
