CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 10, 2004) - The East Tennessee State men's tennis team retained the unblemished Southern Conference record, dropping the Chattanooga men's tennis team 6-1 Saturday at the UTC Tennis Complex. The Mocs began the day by winning the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Doubles partners Tim Kutschera and Thomas Knizat edged Diego Iglesias (Mar del Plata, Argentina) and Alejandro Salazar (Arequipa, Peru) 9-8 at the second position and Josh Bales and Mark Fynn got past Fernando Fiuri (Villa Maria, Argentina) and Felix Insaurralde (Asuncion, Paragua) 8-6 at No. 3. But from there, it was all ETSU. With the Mocs up 1-0 heading into singles, the Buccaneers (14-5, 7-0) took all six in straight sets for a final 6-1 score. Chattanooga will be off for the next 11 days to prepare for the Southern Conference Championships in Charleston, S.C.
