CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (October 3, 2003) - The Buccaneer men's tennis team advanced one in singles action and one pair in doubles action on Saturday at the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships hosted by Chattanooga.
Alejandro Salazar (Arequipa, Peru) advanced in singles competition by defeating Florida's Jordan Dolberg 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 and Middle Tennessee's Rishan Kurpuppr 6-2, 6-3. Salazar moves on to face Butlers Kevin Gill in the round of 32 on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
Federico Ochoa (Manizales, Columbia), who had also advanced after the first day, lost to Anthony Perkins of Drake 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles play, Diego Iglesias (Mar del Plata, Argentina) and Moises Serrano (Bucaramanga, Colombia) won their first two matches and advanced to the round of 32. The Buccaneer pair will face the pair of Jeff Groslimond and Chris Westerhof of Florida State on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
