Men's tennis concludes competition at VCU 4-1 Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. (Jan. 22, 2006) - The ETSU men's tennis team wrapped up weekend competition at the VCU 4-1 Invitational on Sunday. The Buccaneers defeated American University, but later fell to No. 33 Virginia Commonwealth.

The Buccaneers defeated American University 4-1, with singles wins from senior Felix Insaurralde (Asuncion, Paraguay), Juan Crosa (Asuncion, Paraguay), and Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela). Junior Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) was defeated by Nicolas Frayssinoux after a hard fought match, 6-2, 2-6, 10-5. Doubles pair Lisandro Picardo (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) and Sebastian Serrano (Cartagena, Colombia) secured the doubles point with a victory over Andrew Singer and Jason Harris, 6-3, 6-2.

In the second match, Enrique Olivares fought hard taking his singles match to a third set, but was unable to secure the point for ETSU. In other singles action, Felix Insuarralde and Juan Crosa were defeated. Oscar Posada was defeated by No. 52 Arnaud Lecloerec, 7-5, 6-2. In doubles play, Lisandro Picardo and Sebastian Serrano were defeated by Petr Olsak and Sebastian Ripoll, 6-3, 6-0.
