JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 20, 2007) - The No. 52 ETSU men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the 2007 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament after downing Lipscomb, 4-0. The Bucs improve to 21-4 overall, while the Bisons fall to 9-10.

The Bucs took the early 1-0 lead as they captured the doubles point. Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) and Lisandro Picardo (Mar del Plata, Argentina) cruised past Daniel Carrillo and Andy Mizell, 8-1 in the No. 3 position, while Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) and Sebastian Serrano (Cartagena, Colombia) downed Mike Sherman and Colten Jones, 8-3 in the No. 2 slot. The No. 1 doubles match was called when ETSU took the point.

ETSU again dominated in singles action blanking the Bisons in the No. 2, 3, and 5 positions. Conference tournament play is suspended when one team has clinched the match.  In the No. 2 slot Enrique Olivares cruised past Jeff West, 6-0, 6-0, while Felix Insaurralde (Asuncion, Paraguay) rolled over David Carrillo, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 slot. In the fifth position Lisandro Picardo breezed by Josh Cummings, 6-0, 6-0.

"I think in watching the guys play today that they feel like they have something to prove," said head coach Yaser Zaatini. "I think that sometimes when you play an opponent that you have already beaten once you have a tendency to ease up a bit, but they have really come out fired up and are ready to take care of business."

The Bucs will face the winner of No.4 Gardner Webb/No. 5 Jacksonville tomorrow at 1 p.m. For all ETSU men's tennis action visit www.etsubucs.com.
