Bucs tennis looks for first A-Sun championship, four named All-Conference selections

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 19, 2007) - The ETSU men's tennis team will look earn their first ever Atlantic Sun title this weekend during the General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament at the ETSU Tennis Center. The Bucs (20-4, 8-0), enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed for the second straight year.

 

This will be ETSU's second appearance in the A-Sun tournament. The Bucs will be looking to avenge last year's 4-2 loss to Belmont in the semifinals. They are set to face No. 8 Lipscomb on Friday, April 20 at 9 a.m. They dropped the Bisons 6-1 on February 4. The match will take place at the ETSU Tennis Center.

 

Should the Bucs advance to the semi-finals they will take on either No. 4 Gardner Webb or No. 5 Jacksonville. ETSU has already faced both teams this season defeating Jacksonville, 7-0 on March 21 and dropping Gardner Webb, 7-0 on March 27.

 

On Thursday night's conference banquet four Buccaneers were honored by the A-Sun office. Sophomore Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) and junior Predrag Burmazovic (Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro) were both named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference First team, while senior Felix Insaurralde (Asuncion, Paraguay) was named to the All-Conference Second Team. Freshman Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) was named an All-Freshman Team selection.
