JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 19, 2008) - The top-seeded and 37th-ranked ETSU Bucs dropped 5th-seeded Gardner-Webb, 4-0 on Saturday afternoon as they advanced to the title match of the 2008 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship. The Bucs improve to 22-3 overall while the Bulldogs fall to 13-14.

In doubles the Bucs clinched the point with victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. In the top slot, Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) and Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden) defeated Evgeny Slesarev and Andrew Veeder, 8-1, while Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) and Sebastian Serrano (Cartagena, Colombia) dropped Josh Ray and Grant Van Rensburg, 8-2.

The Bucs continued to fight in the singles matches and picked up three consecutive points in the No. 5, No. 1 and No. 6 positions to clinch the victory. Senior Oscar Posada was first off the court dropping Taylor Ferrier, 6-1, 6-2, while Enrique Olivares made it 3-0 defeating Evgeny Slesarev at 6-4, 6-2 in the top position. Sophomore Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) clinched the match for the Bucs cruising past Carlos Quijano, 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 6 slot.

"The guys really played awesome today. I'm very proud of them and this is just taking us one step closer to one our goals," said head coach Yaser Zaatini. "They continued to come out here and fight and toward the end they were even having a little competition to see who could clinch the match. I think that shows a lot of determination and heart. I'm very proud of this team."

The Bucs will take the court to defend their title at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. They will face the winner of the match between Stetson and Campbell. For all ETSU men's tennis action visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
