No. 5 Virginia and No. 46 Arkansas also in ETSU's bracket

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 29, 2009) - After struggling against eight-ranked Tennessee last Saturday the ETSU men's tennis team looks to regain its form as they travel to Charlottesville, Va., on Friday to compete in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The No. 39-ranked Bucs will open play in the two-day tournament against No. 31-ranked Wisconsin at 2 p.m., at the Boyd Tennis Center at the Boar's Head Sports Club.

Along with the Badgers, No. 46-ranked Arkansas and fifth-ranked Virginia will round out action with a 6 p.m., match Friday evening. Winners of both first-day contests will face each other Saturday at 6 p.m., while the two losing squads square off at 2 p.m., on Saturday. Out of the 60 teams that are participating in the Team Championships the top 15 squads that win their respective regional brackets will be invited to play Feb., 13-16 at the National Indoor Team Championships final bracket at the Midtown Tennis Club in Chicago, Ill.

With the one exception being the loss to Tennessee, ETSU (0-1) has had a strong start to its 2009 season as the Bucs won 20 matches at the Duke Invitational Jan., 17-19 in Durham, N.C. Individually, freshman Charles Bottoni (Bois Guillaume, France) is coming off one of his best performances of the season as the ETSU newcomer picked up the Bucs lone victory against the Vols, dropping Tennessee's Davey Sandgren, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. Also for the Bucs ninth-ranked senior Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) looks to get back on track this weekend. The Atlantic Sun Preseason Player of the Year has had some success in the past on the UVA campus after finishing second at the UVA Ranked Plus One Invitational and making the quarterfinals of the ITA National Indoor Championships last fall.

Wisconsin (5-0) heads into the contest riding a five-match winning streak after dropping Green Bay, Butler, UW-Whitewater, Northern Illinois and Marquette. Individually, the Badgers boast a pair of ranked players in No. 36-ranked Marek Michalicka and No.117-ranked Mortiz Baumann.
