MERCER, Ga. (April 1, 2009) - As he has his whole career ETSU men's tennis senior Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) continued to add to his award case earning his fourth career Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honor, the league office announced Wednesday.
The No. 12-ranked Olivares stayed unbeaten in A-Sun play last week making quick work of North Florida's Federico Levi, 6-1, 6-2 Friday and Jordi Ballester of Jacksonville 6-0, 6-1, Saturday. The senior captain followed both of those outstanding performances up by helping the No. 59-ranked Bucs extend its 29-match league winning streak Monday at Mercer dropping Justin Wimpee in No. 1 singles action, 6-2, 6-2. Overall, the Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela native boast a perfect 5-0 singles record in conference play and now sits with a 27-1 mark all-time against A-Sun opponents.
Also Olivares, along with senior teammate Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden), currently sits with the highest doubles ranking in the A-Sun at No. 68 after winning three out of its last four duo matches.
