ETSU rejoins rankings after a five-week layoff

SKILLMAN, N.J. (March 28, 2012) – In the midst of a six-match winning streak including a victory over conference rival then-No. 71 Stetson on Friday, the ETSU men’s tennis team has rejoined the Campbell/ITA Men’s Team Rankings at No. 72 as released by the association on Tuesday.

ETSU (6-8, 4-0 A-Sun) rejoins the polls since falling out the week of Feb. 22 after starting the season at 0-8. Since then, the Bucs have reeled off six-consecutive matches and continued their A-Sun dominance as the five-time defending conference tournament champions are 4-0 in A-Sun action.

This past weekend, ETSU earned its first victory in six tries against ranked teams this season with an impressive 5-0 defeat of Stetson. The match was shortened due to rain with ETSU leading the No. 1 and No. 6 singles points. The Bucs then completed the weekend with a 7-0 sweep of Florida Gulf Coast at the Bristol Racquet Club.

ETSU will defend its ranking this weekend when it travels to Nashville, Tenn., for A-Sun matches with Lipscomb and Belmont.
