Bandres, Ordeig advance to singles finals on day two of UVA Fall Classic

Saturday, October 06, 2012

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (Oct. 6, 2012) – Senior Jesus Bandres (Caracas, Venezuela) and junior Roger Ordeig (Gurb, Spain) each won in straight sets on Saturday at the UVA Fall Classic, earning the right to play in their respective draw’s final.

Bandres, the top seed in the Black Flight, defeated fourth-seeded Brice Allonic from the College of Charleston 6-2, 7-5, an Ordeig slipped by Richmond’s Dylan Trent 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 in the White Flight. Both finals are scheduled to be played at the Snyder Tennis Center on Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sophomore Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was schedule to face top-seeded Julen Uriguen of UVA in the Orange Flight semifinals, but was pulled prior to the match due to injury.

“The guys are working hard,” Director of ETSU Tennis Yaser Zaatini said. “It’s up to me to give them a chance to win by completing the pieces that are currently missing, but I’m motivated by their efforts and we have a long way to go.”
