Round-robin tournament scheduled Friday through Sunday

WILMINGTON, N.C. (Nov. 1, 2012) – The ETSU men’s tennis team gets back to fall action this weekend, taking to the courts at the UNCW Tennis Complex to compete in the three-day Seahawk Fall Invitational.

The invite begins Friday and concludes on Sunday, and will be contested in a round-robin format. Joining ETSU and UNC Wilmington will be Boston College and Davidson. The Buccaneers will take on all three teams in both singles and doubles action.

ETSU’s last outing came two weeks ago at the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships. Juan Ramirez (Asuncion, Paraguay), Jesus Bandres (Caracas, Venezuela), Roger Ordeig (Gurb, Spain) and Jorge Varon (Valencia, Venezuela) all advanced to the doubles quarterfinals after going a combined 5-0 on opening day, but saw their runs come to an end on day three.

Leading the Bucs through the fall season has been sophomore Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil). Last year’s unanimous selection to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team is 10-3 this fall, but lost his last two matches after being forced to retire with an injury at the UVA Fall Classic. Ribeiro has won his last six matches competed.
