Men's Tennis set for home opener versus Tennessee Tech

ETSU to host Tennessee Tech after eight-match, season-opening road swing

BRISTOL,Tenn. (Feb. 26, 2015) - For the first time this season, the ETSU men’s tennis team will take the court at home as the Bucs host Tennessee Tech Friday, Feb. 27 at 1:00 p.m., at the Bristol Racquet & Fitness Club in Bristol, Tenn. For directions to the venue, click here.

The Buccaneers (2-6) were last in action Saturday, Feb 14, earning a win over Southland Conference power Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 4-2.

In the win, ETSU secured the doubles point, winning at No. 2 and No. 3. The Bucs then extended their match lead to 3-0 with Robert Herrera (Barcelona, Spain) and Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) picking up wins at No. 6 and No. 2 Singles, respectively.

Sophomore Ismael Merino (Lima, Peru) clinched the victory for ETSU, sealing a three-set win at No. 5 Singles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Since starting the season 1-2, Tennessee Tech has lost three consecutive matches. Most recently, the Golden Eagles (1-5) suffered a narrow 4-3 setback at UNC Asheville Sunday, Feb. 15.

Each of ETSU's first eight matches have come on the road, while five matches have been against ranked opponents.
