Ribeiro notches ETSU's second Player of the Week award in as many weeks

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 20, 2015) – ETSU co-captain Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played April 13-19.

Ribeiro was 4-0 in all competition last week as the Bucs earned a pair of conference wins over The Citadel (7-0) and Furman (4-0) to earn the league’s regular season championship with a perfect 7-0 record in conference play.

After playing the majority of the season at No. 2 singles, Ribeiro moved up to the top singles position and earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over The Citadel’s Artemie Ameri on Friday.  The Sao Paolo, Brazil, native moved back to No. 2 singles on Saturday and came away with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Furman’s Matt Browne.

The team of Ribeiro and David Biosca competed at No. 1 doubles for the Bucs and earned a pair of wins last week.  ETSU’s top team downed The Citadel’s Amari and Peter Bleach (8-3) before claiming an 8-7 (7-5) decision over Furman’s Browne and Ben Horst.  Ribeiro and Biosca have now won six straight doubles matches together.
