Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented its annual awards last week during the 2016 PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis teachers and coaches, was held February 17-20, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Yaser Zaatini, of Johnson City, Tennessee, has been named PTR Member of the Year for the State. This award is presented to a PTR member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR. A member since 1996, Zaatini is a PTR certified Professional

Zaatini enters his fifth season as Director of Tennis at East Tennessee State University serving in his 13th year as Head Coach of the Men's team and fifth as head of the Women's team. In his time coaching at ETSU, Zaatini has compiled a combined record of 296-127 (.700), with a 226-90 record coaching the men's team and a 70-37 record coaching the women's team. Zaatini has been recognized as Coach of the Year in his conference nine out of the 13 years. He has guided the men's squad to nine consecutive conference tournament titles and NCAA Tournament appearances with victories against Notre Dame and Alabama in 2008 and 2010 respectively in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, while helping the women's team to NCAA Tournament berths in 2011 and 2014.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 15,000 members in 127 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
