A total of 32 different schools will be competing this weekend in Athens

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 22, 2016) – The ETSU men’s tennis team will kick off its fall season this weekend at the Southern Intercollegiate. This marks the 49th season of the tournament, which will include 170 singles players, 81 doubles pairs and 32 different schools competing this weekend in Athens, Ga.

“I’m extremely excited about this year,” remarked ETSU Head Coach Yaser Zaatini. “Having three guys with not much experience is going to bring a new set of challenges. I’m curious to see how they’ll react and hopefully they’ll pick up where we were last season. We have a great group and you can’t beat that.”

ETSU does return five players that saw some time on the court last season. Leading this group is two-time SoCon Player of the Year David Biosca (Sant Fruitos De Bage, Spain). Joining Biosca is junior Robert Herrera (Barcelona, Spain), who went 20-2 in the spring season, and senior Diego Nunez (Monterrey, Mexico) who posted a record of 9-9 last spring. In total, the Bucs have two seniors, one junior, three sophomores and one freshman on their roster.
