It’s the third straight month in which the Bucs have had at least three athletes named Athlete of the Month in their respective sports.
Track & Field
Senior Katrina Seymour (New Providence, Bahamas) recorded an outstanding month of April recording four event victories and never finished lower than second in the month. At the Western Carolina Invitational on April 28, Seymour broke the school record in the 400 meter hurdles, finishing first in the event with a time of 57.96. Later that day, Seymour won the 400m dash en route to being named SoCon women’s track athlete of the week.

David Biosca (Sant Fruitos de Bage, Spain) led the ETSU men’s tennis team to its 11th straight conference tournament as he guided the Bucs to an 8-1 overall record in April. With the Southern Conference’s automatic bid, it will be the senior’s fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. Between singles and doubles tennis, the senior went a perfect 18-0 including posting an undefeated 6-0 record in the Southern Conference Tournament en route to his second Most Outstanding Player award of his career.
During the month of April, Biosca received his 100th career victory at ETSU by defeating Nicolas Gerdes and Max Rauch of MTSU 6-4. This award is Biosca’s third April player of the month award as he has earned this honor the last three years. Earlier this year, the Spain native was named SoCon student-athlete of the week and player of the week.
Loy Hee Ying (Baru. Kulaijaya, Malaysia) guided the ETSU women’s tennis team to two top-5 finishes in the month of April – Web.com Intercollegiate (1st place) and Southern Conference Championships (3rd place). The first place finish in Jacksonville, Fla. was the second team victory this year for the Blue and Gold.
Individually, Loy finished in the top-5 in all three tournaments including finishing tied for first at The Brickyard Intercollegiate in Macon, Ga. She posted two fourth place finishes at the Web.com Intercollegiate and the SoCon Championships.
