Men’s tennis gears up for 2018 ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 10, 2018) – The 2018 ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships is set for Thursday, Oct. 11 – Monday, Oct. 15 in Knoxville, Tenn. The tournament will be played at three different locations throughout Knoxville and it consists of 128 singles draws, 64 doubles draws, and a first round loser draw.

The championships are represented by 21 Division I men’s programs; Austin Peay, Ball State, Belmont, Butler, Chattanooga, Dayton, ETSU, IUPUI, Indiana, Kentucky, Lipscomb, Louisville, Memphis, MTSU, Northern Kentucky, Purdue, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, Vanderbilt, Wright State, and Xavier.

In the draws, there are 32 seeded individuals, with David Gonzalez earning the sixth seed and Sergi Fontcuberta earning the 13th seed. Gonzalez is also one of six nationally ranked players in singles, coming in at No. 107. Lastly, there are 16 seeded teams in doubles. Gonzalez and Fontcuberta are seeded fourth, while Lugo and Este are seeded 10th.
