SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 14, 2019) – The Southern Conference announced the official seedings for the upcoming 2019 SoCon Tournament Championship in Macon, Ga. ETSU won the league’s regular-season crown and earned the top seed in the eight-team tournament that will be held Thursday, April 18, through Saturday, April 20, at the John Drew Tennis Center in Macon, Georgia.
The Bucs, the 2018 tournament champions, will play The Citadel, the No. 8 seed, on Thursday at 1 p.m. The other quarterfinal in the top half of the bracket features No. 4 Wofford against No. 5 Samford, also at 1 p.m. The Terriers beat the Bulldogs 4-0 on March 1, while ETSU is coming off a 6-1 victory over The Citadel on Saturday evening.
Furman earned the No. 2 seed and will take on No. 7 UNCG on Thursday at 3 p.m. The Paladins finished conference play 6-1, losing only to ETSU. Chattanooga is the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Mercer at 3 p.m.
Friday’s semifinal matchups will begin at 2 p.m. and Sunday’s title match is set for 1 p.m.
Furman leads all current Southern Conference programs with 14 tournament titles. Chattanooga has won the league’s tournament 12 times, while ETSU has won eight championships. Samford captured the conference tournament in 2011 and 2013, while UNCG won in 2010.
