RALEIGH, N.C. (March 25, 2006) - Senior James Rainer (Alcoa, Tenn.) bested the Raleigh Relays 100-meter field on Saturday, cruising to victory with a time of 10.52, in the second and final day of competition at Paul Derr Track. The performance was a season best for the senior, who missed the NCAA qualifying standard by just two hundredths of a second.
Teammate Johnny Tucker (Spartanburg, S.C.) also competed in the 100 final, placing 13th overall in 11.15. The ETSU sprinters also ran well in the 4x100-meter relay, finishing in 42.03, enough for sixth place in the 23-competitor field.
In women's action, MacKenzie Labonte (Port Charlotte, Fla.) clocked 4:58.76 over 1,500-meters in her first attempt at the event this season.
The Bucs have only a few weeks before the Atlantic Sun Championships, scheduled for April 15, but will likely compete elsewhere over the next several weekends. Check back to ETSUBucs.com for updates.
