Johnson City, Tenn. -- The quest for Southern Conference Championships for the East Tennessee State track & field teams will begin this Thursday, April 19.

The women's track team will be looking to knock off defending Southern Conference champion Western Carolina to claim the title. Roseline Addo has become a leader of this year's team by setting a school record in the 400 meters on numerous occasions. Jennifer Howard has also been a strong performer as she has also been in the front of the 400 meter pack. Emily Howard looks to lead the Bucs to a strong performance in the distance events.

Andrew Whitson, fresh off a school record performance last week at the Sea Ray Relays, will look to capture the decathalon crown. Whitson set the school record last week by posting 6,539 points.

The Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held April 19-21 in Lexington,Va. and is hosted by VMI.
