FAYETTVILLE, Ark. (May 31, 2008) - Red-shirt senior Jenny Knox (Connelly Springs, N.C.) may not have been one of the top five runners to finish in the 100-meter dash finals Saturday evening from the 2008 Mideast Regional; however, she kept the door open for a possible at-large bid to next month's NCAA Championships by improving on her time from the John McDonnell Field located on the University of Arkansas' campus.

Knox, who was making her second consecutive appearance in the regional, became one of the top-32 sprinters in the country after advancing into today's finals. Unfortunately, the Connelly Springs, N.C. native, went toe-to-toe with some of the best collegiate athletes in her event and finished eighth overall with a time of 11.55. This mark will help when being considered for an at-large candidate since her previous wind-legal time was her 11.63 - which was posted two weeks ago at the Atlantic Sun Championships.

"I am extremely proud how Jenny handled herself this weekend after going head-to-head with some of the top collegiate sprinters," added associate head coach Michelle Byrne. "Jenny ran back-to-back lifetime bests this weekend and left the door open for a possible at-large bid to next month's nationals. We now just have to wait and see if her time props her to the top of the list."

LSU featured four athletes in the event and Kelly-Ann Baptiste won the title after posting a time of 10.97.

Knox, the reigning ETSU record holder in the 100m, now awaits her verdict as the NCAA announces the at-large bids on Monday afternoon.
