JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 3, 2012) – Below is a list of all the ETSU Athletic events taking place for the week of Dec. 3-9.

Men’s Basketball (2-3)

This week: The Bucs hit the road for a pair of road games this week at James Madison and at No. 14/13 North Carolina. ETSU begins the week with a trip to James Madison on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m., tip inside the JMU Convocation Center, while taking on the Tar Heels Saturday at 7:30 p.m., inside the Dean Smith Center. Last week: ETSU used a team effort to cruise past Milligan, 94-46, last Thursday evening inside the MSHA Athletic Center. Seven different players reached the scoring column with red-shirt freshman Lester Wilson (Knoxville, Tenn.) leading the way with a career-high 27-point effort, while John Walton (Memphis, Tenn.), Rashawn Rembert (Tampa, Fla.) and Mario Stramaglia (Birmingham, Ala.) also scored in double figures. Walton (15 points), Rembert (16 points) and Stramaglia (14 points) also notched career highs in scoring, while Wilson nearly missed a double-double after pulling down nine rebounds. As a team, the Blue and Gold shot 54.8 percent (34-62) from the field and knocked down 11 three-pointers en route to the 48-point victory.

Women’s Basketball (2-2)

This week: Idle   

Last week: The Lady Bucs picked up a pair of wins last week as ETSU defeated Memphis 83-73 at home on Friday night, while using strong free throw shooting to hold on for a 57-53 victory Sunday afternoon at Morehead State. On Friday, sophomore guard Brianna Bogard (Georgetown, Texas) netted a career-high 22 points on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc, and junior Destiny Mitchell (Bluffton, Ga.) added a double-double – finishing with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Lady Bucs went 23-of-27 (12-for-14 in the final minute) at the charity stripe, and Mitchell paced the Blue and Gold with 15 points as ETSU came away with a four-point win after outscoring the Eagles, 39-35, in the second half.

Track & Field

This week: Idle

Last week: The ETSU men’s and women’s track and field teams opened up the 2012-13 indoor season in Clemson, S.C., at the Orange and Purple Winter Classic. Junior Ifrish Alberg (Paramaribo, Suriname) highlighted all performances, finishing second in the 60m dash with a time of 6.82 – just .01 behind Perron Jones of Georgia Tech. The best finish on the women’s side was third, with Demeteria Edgecombe (Spartanburg, S.C.) taking bronze in the 60m hurdles (8.51), Emani Harrison (Columbia, S.C.) in the 60m dash (7.62), and Kristin Chapman (Jacksboro, Tenn.) in the high jump (1.55) on a personal best.

Volleyball (23-13, 11-7 A-Sun)

This week: Idle

Last week: The ETSU volleyball team had its historic season come to an end last Friday night as the Bucs were swept by Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Lexington.  The Bucs – who were making their first-ever appearance in the “Big Dance” – had won three straight and 11 of its last 14 matches coming into the tournament, and ended the season with an overall record of 23-13, marking the Bucs’ second 20-win season in the last three campaigns.
