Second career A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week accolade for the freshman
MACON, Ga. (April 23, 2014) – Freshman Brett Squibbs (Rock Hill, S.C.) earned the Atlantic Sun Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week award after his record-breaking performance in the pole vault at the War Eagle Invitational on Saturday, April 19, in Auburn, Ala., the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
This is the second career A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week accolade for the first-year vaulter.
Squibbs continued his stellar rookie season by breaking his previously set record of 5.10 meters with an even better vault of 5.20 meters to take the runner-up spot in the event. Squibbs has now set new ETSU records on multiple occasions during his young career including setting the school’s high mark in the event during the indoor season.
The rookie field performer currently ranks first in the A-Sun, 13th in the NCAA East Region, and 44th in the nation in the event.
Competition in the 2014 outdoor season for the Bucs will continue this weekend, April 25 – 26, at the Highlander Invitational in Radford, Va.
