NEW ORLEANS- (July 20, 2015) – The ETSU track & field program was recognized on Monday earning All-Academic team honors by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
It’s the third straight year the women’s track & field program has earned the All-Academic team status after posting a combined GPA of 3.42 for the indoor and outdoor seasons. The men received the honor for the second straight year, posting a 3.17 GPA.
The 3.42 combined GPA by women’s track & field was the second highest in the Southern Conference, trailing Chattanooga who posted a 3.73 GPA, ranking them second nationally. Men had the third highest GPA in the SoCon just behind Furman and Chattanooga, who had the highest GPA nationally for the second straight year.
To be eligible for USTFCCCA All-Academic status, teams must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
As a whole, 224 women’s and 123 men’s programs earned All-Academic status. Arkansas was named Scholar Team of the Year for the indoor season while Oregon was honored for the outdoor season.
