JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 7, 2016) – The ETSU men’s and women’s track and field programs will open the indoor season Friday and Saturday when they compete in the David E. Walker Kickoff Classic inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletics Center on David E. Walker Track at Gentry Field. This is the first of three indoor meets that will take place at the Mini Dome this season.
In addition to ETSU, Appalachian State, Alabama State, Carson Newman, Georgia State, Kennesaw State and Western Carolina will all compete at the event. The action is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Friday with the women’s long jump and finish up with the women’s weight throw at 6:30 p.m. Saturday’s events are slated for a 10:30 a.m. start time with the men’s shot put and the day rounds out with the Men’s 4x400 meter relay at 3:20 p.m.
Highlighting ETSU’s returners are a pair of student-athletes that competed in the NCAA East Preliminaries last season in Mike Williams (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) and Brett Squibbs (Rock Hill, S.C.). This duo, who competed in the 400mH and pole vault, respectively, will be joined by new 26 student-athletes. The men’s team has added 12 new athletes, while the women’s team has 14 new faces on the squad.
Live results will be available throughout the meet at timinginc.com and by clicking on the “Live Results” link. Tickets for this weekend’s meet are free and parking is available on campus in Lot 22. It is preferred that spectators enter on the West Side/Third Level of the Mini Dome.
