The two-day meet will begin at 10 a.m. Friday

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2016) – The ETSU Track & Field program will head to Birmingham, Ala. this weekend to compete in the SoCon Indoor Championships. The meet, which will be held at the CrossPlex, will be the 81st annual championship on the men’s side and the 29th for the women’s.

“Our goal for the Southern Conference Championship is to find a way to perform beyond expectations,” said ETSU Director of Cross Country/Track & Field George Watts. “Our women's team is young and our men's team has taken a hit as a result of injuries.  Realistically, we should finish in the top half of the conference.  Our theme this year is to "elevate" our performance at championship meets.  That time has come.”

Coming into the weekend, the Bucs are ranked fourth among men’s teams and third on the women’s side in the SoCon Power Rankings. The rankings are determined by the top eight times or scores that are reported by the schools for each event that will be conducted at this weekend’s championships.

The action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the women’s pentathlon events and will be followed by the men’s heptathlon events at 10:15 a.m. Events are scheduled through 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and action will resume on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. with men’s heptathlon events. The championship will conclude on Saturday evening with the awards ceremony at 4:05 p.m.

Admission to the meet is free of charge and live results throughout the meet can be found HERE. In addition, the finals of each event will be streamed on SoCon Digital Network.
